If you love shopping, then you’ve come to the right place. Paris is one of the top shopping destinations in the world, boasting some of the country’s hottest shopping centers, stores and designers. One of the best spots for retail therapy is Printemps, a one-stop shop for fashion, accessories, home goods, furniture and more.
Though Printemps is considered a “department store,” it actually includes three separate buildings: Printemps Mode, Printemps Homme and Printemps Beauty & Home. The original structure was built in 1865 and features a glass cupola visible from across the city. The two other buildings were added later, as the property’s popularity grew.
In addition to the thousands of square feet of shopping space found in Printemps, the structure is home to a number of other sites and spots, too. The Printemps Brasserie offers lunch, dinner, dessert, tea and more, while the on-site bakery serves up breakfast and traditional French baked goods. Ladurée, a macaron maker, has a shop in Printemps Mode, and for the healthy eaters, there’s Cojean – a diet-friendly restaurant. There’s also a terrace, which offers a panoramic view of the city, and a pub-style bar on the fifth floor of Printemps Homme.
And if you’re lucky enough to visit Printemps in the holiday season, you’ll see the structure decked out in twinkling lights, Christmas dressings and detailed window displays to celebrate. It’s definitely a site to be seen for tourists and Parisians alike.
Printemps is open from 9:35 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 9:35 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and closed on Sunday. It is free to enter and open to the public. If you plan to visit Paris in the near future, be sure to stop by. Even if you don’t plan to shop, there’s plenty to see, do and eat in this historic building.
